Monique Ritz (part 2)
After the death of her husband Charles Ritz, who died in 1976 at the age of 85, she took over the management of the hotel «Ritz» in Paris. This was a big task for Monique Ritz. But as there were no descendants and the future of the Ritz had to be maintained, Monique Ritz sold the «Ritz» in Paris to the family Al Fayed in 1979. The decisive factor was that the Al Fayeds agreed to keep the name «Ritz» and to only renovate the interior of the hotel. But the adepts weren't impressed with the renewals when the «Ritz» was reopened after three years of renovation. After selling the hotel Monique Ritz she moved from Paris, where she had lived for 35 years, to Geneva where she had grown up.
