While Charles Ritz stayed with his mother in Niederwald, people say, you could often see him practicing down below the meadows. For hours he would cast his rod again and again and nothing could disturb him. The village Niederwald found a place in his heart, and it made him happy to see how and where his father had spent his childhood.
After returning from America, Charles Ritz always wanted to make changes to the hotel business, but he never put the historical worth of the house at stake. After his mother's death he took over the management of the «Ritz» in Paris. Because of his hobby he brought many fish dishes to the new «Espadon» and his fly-fishing book introduced the guests to fishing.
